Air Filter Cleaner?
« on: October 25, 2012, 02:42:22 PM »
The manual says "Liquid Cleaner"... So, any water based cleaner works on these? Soap and water, etc? Would the K&N filter cleaner work for the stock filter? Might be a dumb question but I only ask because the filter is foam and I remember all K&N's being different... Does it matter?

I'm not sure about the K&N cleaner...it would probably work "ok" on foam...it works awesome on K&N filters as it should....I've used it on my KZ1000 since 1998.

Way back in the days,I would soak them in gas for a few minutes to get all the filter oil and the bulk of dirt off. There was always controversy about gas breaking down the foam and the seams, but all the years I did it,I never had a problem...I've always run Twin-Air. From there,it was ALOT of warm/hot soapy water washes.

Now-a-days(meaning the last 10-12 years)....I just toss the used Twin-Airs right in the trash and throw in a brand new one......sooooooooo much easier and quicker...since I NEVER "enjoyed" cleaning filters. :-D

Hmmm, did you follow the advice?
If so what are your results.
Just a suggestion, you might try saying thank you when people take the time to answer your questions.
You might find that they will be more willing to help you the next time you ask something.

Twin Air bio dirt remover
-add to warm water in a cleaning bucket; let soak, agitate it, let soak, rinse, let dry.  i like to keep a spare filter on hand.  (no down time)
