I am assuming mines a Euro model (I live in the UK) but doesn't have an airbox lid, don't know if its had one in the past as I am not the only owner that bike has had :?

It has the white air guide thingy but no black cover over the top

Folke,
I might be getting all confused here.  My KX has a white plastic air guide that directs air from under the tank, but it ends about 3" after the tank and does not cover the airbox.  I haven't considered this to be a cover.  The KDX cover I speak of is an actual black plastic cover with a rubber snorkel in it that goes over the entire top hole of the air box.  When you remove the seat, the cover is right there over the airbox and must be removed to access the filter.  Keeps water out but restricts airflow.  My wifes XR200 had one, which we promptly threw away to gain a fair bit more power. Cam.

Sorry but i meen this white plastic in front of the airbox, i never seen an other plastic for airbox, instead we drill some small hole on the airbox so we can get moore air. When we ride on ice in the winter we also take away the airfilter thats give some hpr.
