So I'm sure there is a logical explanation for this phenomenon and I hope somebody can explain it to me in semi layman's terms. So here's what happened. I love to ride up around the 6000-7000 ft elevation, since I live fairly close to the Giant Sequoia National Forest. I have taken my KX 250 up there in the past and my bike ran beautifully. Probably could have been jetted and dialed in for those conditions but that is beyond my skill set. Basically I'm a rider, that can change the spark plug, clean and oil the air filter, change the crank case oil and that's pretty much it, so messing with the Carb screws is like cryptonite to superman for me. Anyway, my question is why would my bike run fairly well at that altitude 4-5 times, then all the sudden the last time I took her up there, she flooded, bogged down and finally died on me, while spewing large amounts of gas out of the overflow hose. even with the bike off, I had to turn off the gas to get it to stop. Took it back to the camp ground and loaded her onto my truck thinking I was gonna have to put her in the shop, then brought her back down to the Central Valley in Cali, which is about 350 ft above SL, and she ran fine once again. No sign of any problem at all. So can it be assumed that it will happen again the next time I try to take her up?

Sounds like a bit of something got stuck in between the needle and seat in the carb

Yeah it was weird. I mean it just flooded out on me right away when I started ascending a trail. Acted as if I fouled a plug, but then my bro told me hey you're leaking gas. Sure enough it was just pouring gas out the overflow hose and wouldn't stop until I turned off the gas. Hmmm Maybe time to have the Carb cleaned and serviced and have new reeds put in while they are in there. I love riding up in the Scenic Sierras. No Miami Trails is up North, on the way to Yosemite. I have been there as a firefighter for the US forest service on patrol, but never ridden there. I am south of that. The Giant Sequoia trees are just about a 45 minute drive up the hill from me, and there are a many miles of trails and service road that are legal to ride off HWY vehicles on. They provide you with a map. It's makes for a cool short camping trip or even a day trip. This is another reason why I want to add a KXF 250 to compliment my 2 stroke. The 2 stroke is a bit tricky with mountain riding because it's a sprinter, and the power band makes it tricky and you have to be careful. A 4 stroke would lend itself better for hill riding IMO, but I still take my 2 stroke up cuz it's all I got. LOL So I adjust.

Yup I'm just about 10 minutes north of Visalia. Yup just head on up the 180 and at the Park "Y" where you go right to go to Generals HYW, or Left to go to Kings Canyon, take the left and go past the Giant Sequoia visitor center about 5 miles, then you will see the Cherry Gap Sign. Lots of campsites and day areas to stage at. You may want to stop at the Hume Lake Ranger Dist. Headquarters on the way up, in Squaw Valley to get a OHV map, that shows you all the Forest Service roads that you can legally explore. Comes in handy if you get lost too. Great mountain riding, very scenic, and occasionally you'll find some really great people to hang with too. I highly recommend it.  8-)
