Hi all
I did my first piston install ever. To make things more difficult for myself I started the install at 11 PM. Done at
1:30. The clips for the wrist pin were tricky to install. Even the web didn`t have much advice. The piston kit by
mistake did not include the wrist pin. I ordered and waited for the part. Then during the install of the wrist pin I
came to the conclusion the pin is too long  55.51 mm. The last clip would not lock into the groove. For better or
worse I used the old wrist pin. I was tired of waiting again for parts. I hope I did the install correctly. I was very
concerned that I might have made a mistake on the alignment of the rings to the pin. I used the kick lever to cycle
the piston thru its stroke. Seemed OK.
Just got the Platinum Pipe by Pro Circuit. I keep telling my myself its a 23 year old bike. Got to try to stop spending money.
Got to go.... more motor polishing to do.

Got to go.... more motor polishing to do. i suppose its a bit late but i wouldnt use an old pin on a new piston it should have come with a new one from wiseco with the piston ,some rings have a letter on the ring sometimes have to be facing upwards ,i guess the pistons facing the right way if its your first time?
its looking sweet.............for the bennefit of sandblaster "sweet" if your down with the kids it means good or cool ,nice not as in sugar sweet ,hope this saves sandblaster some time looking on www.dictionaryofsarcasm.co.uk....sweet :wink:

Hi
The letters were up, the piston head had a arrow and I  pointed it to the front of the machine. I hope the
old wrist pin does not cause a problem. I have a manual but the points above were found on the net.  :|

Thanks for the kind words. If I was only a little faster on the rebuild. Winter has finally
hit Massachusetts. Now all I can do is rev the engine. Years ago I did ride in the snow.
I usually found ice on my rides, that was always a problem.  :wink:

Compared to how long it took for me to finish just my 60 engine and send it out to Tuck to button it all up good, your going good. This recent snowstorm I had a lot of fun on my xr70 beater bike doing donuts and swerving everywhere. What a time! I bet you cant wait for it to be all buttoned up and done! Good Luck!
