Title: Super Moto speeds ??
Post by: greencannon on June 13, 2010, 05:04:34 PM
Was just wondering....what kind of speeds can be reached with crazy gearing on a supermoto setup ??
I had raced snowmobiles on a lake for long distances with 15/42 gearing and stock size rims and gold screws. I know sled speedos aren't the most accurate but being able to run with 700 and 800cc snowmobiles across a lake was real fast.

I've done a standing 1/4 mile on my old steel framed K5 and had a terminal speed of 111mph. I think is was a 12 second run. Gearing was 15/38 with 17" rims.

Kawasaki's old baja bikes could hit 115 or around that but with a supermoto setup i would say that you could go a little quicker

The dirt bike aerodynamics keep it from going faster, even in SM trim.
