Ello all!
New to the forums here, new to owning a 99 kx5 hunnie as well. This looks like a great place to get to know my bike as well as some of you i hope. Im 36, been riding my whole life. Ive owned many bigbores along the way but somehow the Kx has untill now, managed to elude me. .Its cold here in PA, so to occupy some time im gonna rip into the Kawi and do the usuall "preventative maintenance" routine.. I expect to make some changes and hopefully improvements along the way, so im sure i'll be needing help and advise here and there. This kx is going to be my chosen weapon for my 2010 season on the hillclimbs in Trevorton PA. Last year i ran a 94KTM 550 MXC 2stroker with great success, but replacement parts are expensive and hard to find these days. I compete among friends for bragging rights only :-D. Its fun, and im in no way shape or form, "pro". With that said, feel free to check out some of the fun here:
This is me on the ktm550: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVBUCTTQGc0
Heres Jim on his Honda 650R: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRcEtbPUwu0
And heres Don on his 575 ktm thumper. (he's 54!!)

So, if you are reasonably close to central PA, and would like to climb with us sometime, by all means do!! Were all about meeting new people and having a great day of riding :-D.
Thx in advance for any help guys. im the only one representing these good ol' 2 smokes on the hills, an i wana show these guys the big 2smokers are still king!!
Have a great day!

87-89 and some 90 models had 18inch rims 250 & 500, 125 also had 18 but was a narrower rim. You can get a rim and spokes fron buchanan spokes & rims . They also sell Sun rims in 3 & 3.5 wide which would lay that TerraFlex out nice and still have some side wall. You ever been to Beaverdale hill climbs near Johnstown PA? CBX

Hello cbxracer! Nice to meet ya, and thanks for the info! Moocho' appreciato' fella.. Some valuable info provided ;). Yes, i have been to Beaverdale a few years back when there was just a single breaker.. I hear there are two now? If you've been going there for a # of years, you may remember a "newbie" showing up w/ a Cr500af.. I ran it in the 500 stock class if i remember right. .. I had to show the fact that it was a production bike at registration, lol. There were some who thought i should be in the modified.. Proved to be a pretty lousy climber though as the front was way to light, and my suspension was to firm.. Had a great day! I finished 7th out of 13, and the winner was rock'n a K5.. Good time, maybe again this year :). Thx again for the info.. BTW, ever "free climb" at Trevorton pa? Great place! Cya

Hello woodsrider, yes Reading Anthracite Company (R.A.C.) does require that you purchase a annual permit for the cost of 100 bucks per person. This permit can only be purchased in person at the main office in Pottsville PA. Its a good deal considering the amound of land that be accessed `legally. Let me know sometime if your headed that way, and i'll show ya round some.
