Hey guy's,
I have three rides on my engine after the complete rebuild. I have changed the oil twice already. I have found metal debri in the oil. I installed new clutch kit with steel plates. I was using alumn. plates before. Is this debri coming from the steel plates? The gear box shifts fine and there was not really any wear on the trans gears. I know some of ya'll are using the magent drain plugs and are ya'll catching any debri on it? I guess if I order a magnet drain my issue would be resolved. What ya'll think

Hughes small particles more like a paste than anything else just wear. Shards or particles as large as sand is no good.

What I found was small small flakes of metal. At this point am unsure if it was steel or alumn. I'll investigate later.

That may not be bad, if they were small, flat, and shiny it could be plating from bearing or other hard parts. I had a similar experence with a new rearend put in a heavy truck. After a breakin oil change I didn't get any more. I swear by magnetic plugs!!
Edit: After reading the top I may be comparing apples to oranges. :| Maybe change the oil and check the mag during the next ride--but I'm sure you already knew that.
Edit#2 If it stuck to the magnet its not aluminum
Good luck

Could it be shards from the clutch basket when your new steel clutch plates are wearing in..?

Good info guys. I will know more this weekend. Thanks

My guess is on the steel plates, my oil tends to be a little grey at first after some fresh steel plates..
