I finally got a chance to go out and ride my kx500. I had a 93kx250 from 2000 till late last year, I ended up selling it to a friend. A couple of weeks ago another friend of mine put his bike up for sale and it was an offer I just couldnt refuse, so I bought it.
So, we're getting ready to go san felipe 250 pre-running and figured I needed to check the bike out and ride it before I put it through a couple hundred miles of the roughest mexican desert terrain. We took out to some local trails and im still at a loss of words for how amazingly fast this bike is. I absolutely love it. I noticed it wasnt stopping as fast as my 250 did (perhaps I was going lots faster?) other than that the bike rips.
I'll be installing my scotts stabilizer later this week and thats all I need. way rad.

COOOOL are'nt they. I am lovin mine. Is it "Kinetic energy" that stops ya stopping fast? Who cares about that any way? A set of decent pads and fresh disks and ya laughing. Gnarly V-Force2 and spacer then you will rocking big time.
I had a 92 also.
Have kx500 have fun.

:-D Good choice on getting a stableizer. GPR/Scotts/WER, they are all the best. I ran a pretty long wheelie a few years back and came down hard and just about had a full speed wheelie accident due to the shakes from lack of a sableizer. The KX500 has not near the brakes of your 250, so it isn't you. But it is also a combination of huge power and little brakes.
Enjoy, the possiblities for your 500 are pretty much endless. :

Braided stainless lines, CR250 brake pads and the Honda routed front brakeline will make that beast stop on a dime and give you $.09 in change ;)
