As far as I'm concerned Harley is late to the dance instead of romancing all the baby boomers they should have been targeting this area of the market years ago. Now that the middle age/baby boomer market has declined and the OP used market is saturated they are just now realizing their future.is in trouble.

I would never own any Harley product....unless it was for target practice...biggest toilets on the road.

This does look like the moves of a company that realizes it must change or else.  Their purchase of a chunk of Alta makes sense, seeing their new eco friendly models.  We'll see how it is received, but like funkj, I lean more towards the too little, too late.  I also agree with Foxx.  I would not own a Harley.  They're just too big, heavy, and buzzy for me.

Funny, I've always been a patriot/American kind of guy. A military veteran, 35 yr union tradesmen  and even lived in Milwaukee for 25 yrs in the birth town of Harley Davidson.

Yet I have never been a fan.I have always been a performance minded and the fact they used the same technology since the first one built has never amused me. Polishing and refining the same turd for 150 yrs is a far cry from improving and refining the product. They really lose me at the point where they make it something it isn't. If you want to build a slow ass bike with 150 yr old technology and put all your stock in its an a chromed American heritage then fine, but dont blow smoke up my ass and tell me what a performance prize it is.

Of course when you buy one of these slow ass bikes for $25,00 plus that took them 80 yrs to figure out how to keep the primary cases from leaking oil,( their still working on how to keep the bolts tight) it comes with your very own Harley dew rag that makes you an instant bad-ass.
