Yeah i know is sounds strange , but i want to paint my stator cover and clutch cover on my kx250.
Now the clutch cover is magnesium pro circuit and the stator is standard plastic.
Now i want paint that is hard wearing because of boot rub.
Obviously i cant get plastic powder coated and would rather do it myself anyway.
Would i be better priming them first and what would be the best type of paint to use?

powder coating would be the way to go if you're worried about boot wear...mag cover would be a different story.
there's guys on here that do it....or you can get your own powder coating kit on-line for $100....all you need is an oven big enough to fit the parts....you could use a toaster oven for a clutch cover.

Yeah magnesium needs to be de-gassed before powder coating so im told?
I was also thinking of plasti dip for the stator cover?

it shouldn't be to big of deal.
plasti dip might be a good idea...I myself have never had anything "dipped", so I have no idea how durable it is or the process.

Plastidip is in a spray can buddy , they paint full cars with it , and its tough and power washable and then you can peel it off , youtube it buddy , amazing stuff.

I have worked with plasti dip, and it would be easy to do, but it won't hold up against your boots. Maybe if you just ripped around a corn field or something here and there, but I don't think it would hold up. Your Stator cover takes a lot more of a beating than a car does, and a lot more constant rubbing. Plus my experience is once a little starts going it all starts going. But on the bright side you could redo it every time it comes off and it would be cheap and easy to do.

Is there anyway of doing magnesium at home with aerosol cans?
I heard normal paint will eventually bubble and come off?
