Thanks for the comments all :-D. Not sure if anyones local enough, but i'll be back on the banks in Trevorton for Memorial day wknd. Be happy to show ya round the place. Bring a good knobby, or even a paddle works great there.

I bow to you oh KX5 insane crazy hillclimber! That was beeeuuutiful!
-
you sir are the vertician!! 8-)... well done!!!!!

Thanks again for the cool response! But now that ive managed to sucker some of you in with a cool vid, im about to pop the dreaded of all dreaded questions...............wait for it...............Hows my JETTING! lol.
goes like this: I bought the bike recently, cleaned the filter and added my running gear an been crack'n on it since. Durring the climbing video you watched, i had some detonation goin on at both part throttle and WOT near the top of the crest when engine temps were at their highest. Nothing to obnoxious, but cause for concern. Tonight i dug in and this is what i found:
Stock carb
stock cage
carbon fiber reeds
N82M needle w/ the clip at its highest groove
52 pilot
162 main @ 1 turn out on the air screw.
elevation - 849 ft
Temperatures between 70 and 90 deg and no internal engine mods im aware of.
With that said, and you heard the bike sounded pretty good. My first K5 n all, im sure this set up has room for improvement.
I cant afford a V2 or rad valve quite yet, but besides that, any advise will be greatly appreciated and applied. Thanks!
-
you're dangerously lean!.You really should'nt be maxed out on the clip/needle.
I'm running 168 main,55 pilot,2nd groove from top,and 1 3/4 turns on air screw....I run roughly at 1000-1200 elevation,and it runs extremely crisp/snappy....to the point where I won't go any leaner.I'm also running a V-force2.
I would drop your clip down to the 2nd,maybe even 3rd from top,go up to a 165 or 168 main to start....and double check your float height...I bet that will make a big improvement...but you'll more than likely need to make more changes until you get it just right.
Oh...and do a leak down test ASAP!!
-
Thank you Foxx4. Your very helpfull and i appreciate it :-D
-
here's a good site to follow for checking your float height.
http://www.allthingsmoto.com/forums/f-15/how-set-your-motorcycle-carburetor-float-level-13609/
Moto Tassinari stopped making the V-force2 block a few years ago....I have'nt tried the V-force3,there's been a few guys on here that have had problems with them,as far as getting them to seal/sit right....and I think they contacted Tassinari about the problem, and they sent them a new/different set of petals, and I think I read that it cured the problem.I've also never tried the Rad Valve...but have never heard anything bad about them either.
Good luck!!

If you do a search under the phrase "leak down tester",the 1st or 2nd result will read "leak down tester" started by "Doldguy".I've actually used this method with good results and it's inexpensive....although I'm sure there's a few guys on here that now of even better ways to make one that don't cost a fortune.
-
Foxx4, you da man . Thanks so much!
-
you're welcome...but I can't take all the credit.A good deal of the knowledge I've aquired came not only from hands-on experience, but from hours of searching and reading threads on this forum. The age range of guys on here is pretty wide, and so is'nt the information we all seek....and I thank everyone on here for sharing what they've learned over the years to help out others enjoy this awesome hobby!!

you will want the floats set very high for hillclimbing hills, especially like ones that you're ripping on there. If the carb leaks from the overflow, its too high, but otherwise set them higher than standard,
-
Honestly that is some wicked climbing! and it wasn't just up and over it was up up up up then down the other side! Very well done.

There ought to be signs at the bottom that say "Not for pussies or 4 stokes!" Nice climbing.

If i were to mix up 85 degrees with 93 octane @ 40:1, throw in a 52p, 68m, @ 1.5 turns an a dash of n82m 3rd clippy juice, and bottle it up, i'd name it "ping be gone" an sell it to guys like me. Then i'd buy a bungaloo in sunny Aruba. Thx again for the Carby insight fellas ;) much appreciated :-D

awesome....glad it worked out!!
