can a 60 be bored to take a stock 65 piston

i have a barrel from a kx 60 with a steel liner at 43mm stock bore, it needs a rebore but all the o/s piston are very costly in the u.k. how ever there are loads off cheap stock kx65 pistons 44.5mm (i think). any 1 now if the ring gaps are in the right place and the wrist pins the same size ect

thanks doldguy, i looked on that site and the part numbers for the 46mm 65 piston kit and the 46mm 60 kit are different so i think its a no go unless anyone knows different

Just a guess on my part but it might serve you. When swapping something like that I would check the stock rod length & stroke length of each. If they match & the pistons cheap enough it might be worth the gamble
if I only had a pair, I could actually ride this thing

the stroke and wrist pin is defo the same and so is the crank i think. its the ring gap i am stuck on now

2000 KX60 has a stroke of 41.6mm.
2000 KX65 also has a stroke of 41.6mm.
According to the book, **KX60 crank 13031-1448** Fits
1999 KX60-B15 KX60 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2000 KX60-B16 KX60 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2001 KX60-B17 KX60 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2002 KX60-B18 KX60 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2003 KX60-B19 KX60 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
According to the book, **KX65 crank 13031-1467** Fits
2000 KX65-A1 KX65 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2001 KX65-A2 KX65 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2002 KX65-A3 KX65 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2003 KX65-A4 KX65 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2004 KX65-A5 KX65 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
2005 KX65-A6 KX65 CRANKSHAFT-PISTON(S)
Another option would be to buy a KX65 cylinder that needs a rebuild and get all the dimensions from it:

Off the guy 50 bucks for it.

The KX60 & KX65 have the same Wrist Pin, the same Rings per size. The difference in the pistons is the KX60 has a 24mm compression height & the KX65 is 23.6 mm. If memory serves...... :oops:......the ring pin location is the same. The head needs to be brought down to correct the squish clearance & adds some port timing  :-D

gold dust, thats what i was after. thanks to all of you for your efforts on this. so i will buy the 65 piston and see how it goes if what doldguy is correct then is just a re-bore + a thiner head gasket. i will make sure the result of this is posted for future reference

yes it did work and bike ran fine. the main problem is the head gasket. the bore hole needs to be widen a little and then it all works fine. i used an after market gasket kit with a fibre head gasket. in hind site i would have purchased an all metal kawasaki head gasket as it would be easier to modify. the  stock kx 65 gasket will not fit

How did the sqiush clearance work out? Also hope it runs better up top now with the difference in timing.  :-)

i sold the bike shortly after, but it ran ok. i am 17.5 stone (lol) so i couldnt really tell how it performed but yes seemed ok
