if you were in pararescue ...
« on: December 16, 2011, 05:13:41 AM »
I'm going to go in the air force and I've been thinking about pararescue. I would like to talk to somebody who has been a PJ or who is one currently. I want to learn as much as i can about this job choice before i make it. Is there anyone on here who could help me ?

Why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?

My answer was not BS.  Take it for what it is worth.  Making a career in pararescue is not something you walk into.  It is an important decision.  But realize the long term affects when you are making your decision.  The military does not care about your body as much as you do.  They have acceptable loss figures.  Although, it may be quicker to get into than the Coast Guard rescue swimmer program.  Are you in the service now? Or looking at getting in?

i'm am going to enlist in march. right now i am a senior in high school, straight A's, 4.0 GPA. after looking at the past test requirements, i can pass the minimum. i really like the sound of how challenging this is, i just want to know more about what kind of stuff they put you through. i'm willing to go far past my abilities to try and make it into this field. i wasn't saying your answer was bs, i wasn't directing that at you

If your a 4.0 student, go to College, get an education in the medical field.
Then, you can save lives during the week and jump out of airplanes for fun on the weekends.

honestly i'm not going in this just to save lives. that just comes with it but it is still a great honor to be saving people. i like the challenge it presents and being able to go anywhere and everywhere; all at a moments notice. i'm not a school person, i'm a hands on, outside, physical person. sitting in a classroom isn't my thing. there is only 300 active duty pararescuemen in the world, i want to be part of that brotherhood. the best of the best !!!

I give you alot of credit!! If you want to be part of a brotherhood and make some $$$ get in a trade like the ironworkers or pipefitters....operators. Fight the war over here to keep the jobs in the USA!!!! College is another choice....I agree with the others!!

I agree with the rest of these guys. With grades like you have you are better off making some $ here.  After a military term you will be left with a broken wore out body and have to fight for a new life and career.

Coast Guard helicopter pilot, flight mechanic, or rescue swimmer.  Save lives, see your family almost every night.  Get paid the same as the dudes getting shot at in the desert and may God bless them for it.
