A old motocross rider and a old 1989 KX-250
« on: December 10, 2011, 04:53:41 AM »
Hi All

I`m back at riding after a 25 year break.. I saw a old KX 250 as I was going to work ever day. Each day on the drive by my interest increased. Until I pulled the trigger on the purchase. So for $400 I have a tired old bike.
This winter I will take it all apart and do the piston, paint the frame and replace any parts that are faulty. It will be fun to bring the bike back to life. I may be too old to ride at 53 but I`m willing to give it a try. After the first ride I already feel younger. That`s a good thing.
I just added the plastic, added a seat cover and painted the pipe. It looks better already. More to come.

Welcome!

You are not to old! But you do have to remember you do break a lot easier! I am 66 and I have a KX500 and I am about to buy a 2012 KX450F.................

So temper your riding with a bit of caution! I tell people who think I am crazy, when I leave the ground on my bike or quad these days it is an accident.

My 60 year old father beat me in the 100 mile desert race 2 weeks ago...

I DNF'ed though. Only reason he beat me..   "To finish first, first you must finish"

But seriously. He was faster than most there..  Except the 69 year old guy that was cleaning ALOT of guys clocks...

THAT OLD FART WAS FAST!!

My pappy is 68 and can ride wheelies for miles..... I'm jealous  :-(
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Got to say my crash on the first of March on my KX500 made me a bit leery. At 57 it seemed it took a LOT longer to heal up then it did even ten years ago. I took my TW200 out a couple of days ago and rode some technical stuff at less then 5 mph and I had a knot in my stomach the whole time. That NEVER used to happen. Hope that goes away? Probably just need to keep riding to get the confidence back up. Been quite a while since I last went down, so I am sure that is part of it.
Met Chelsie Jorgensen, #8 of the Seattle Mist football team the other day, and I think if she asked me I might give up motorcycles! Well, for a couple of days any way... Man! What a cutie! She works in Puallup at the Foxy Lady Caf? if anyone is close by.
