New to the forum & Bring a beast
« on: March 29, 2012, 05:36:15 PM »
My name is Mark, just purchased a 98 KX 250 frame with 92 KX 500 motor bored to 550. I live in the mountains at 4000ft and the bike is running like crap. Loads up pretty bad 1/4-1/2 throttle. Can anyone point me in the direction of tuning/jetting solutions. I would like the bike at its full potential. The guy I bought it from said the bike has 80rwhp but I don't feel anything close to that. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
What is your current jetting?
My info shows that for a relatively stock engine with a pipe and reed, 4000 ft elevation, and 60 deg f should run 165 main, 3rd position on a N82M needle, 58 slow jet, and the airscrew at 1.5 turns.

The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
