plasti dip

Due to unexpected bs in my life right now my 250/500 conversion is put on hold. I had my kx5 all stripped down already so i decided to get a little creative and have some fun. A coworker of mine told me about a product called plasti dip. He used it to change the color of his car rims and liked the turn out. The upside to this stuff is that it is 100% removable. So it?s like a powder coat but if you don?t like it you can just peel it right off. Well long story short i sprayed my frame and swing arm last night and was pleased with the turn out. Still have the rims and triple tree yet to do. Not too sure how durable it is going to be but it won?t chip like paint would. I will keep posting as i completing.

im not sure but i think you have to sand a bit of paint off the coil mount for it to work.

cant wait for the pics of everything put back together.

Yes you do, you also need to grind clean the frames' engine mounts so the engine can provide a ground to the frame

hmm.. thanks for pointing that out guys. i didnt know that about the frame mounts or the coil mounts. 2 seconds with a blade and tooth pick and problem solved. thats the joy about working with this stuff it peels right off no chipping or sanding like paint. once again thanks for pointing that out

That does look way sweet ! It should be easy to touch up too if you do scratch it. I used that plasti dip on a weathered plastic motorcycle fuel tank once, seemed to work pretty decent & a load cheaper than a new tank.
Your clutch cable looks like you have a cool blue aftermarket trinket, or you put sillycone hose over it of something whats up there? Might steal it where it'll color match my project

thanks man.. im pleased with the outcome. the plasti dip is like 5-6 bucks a can. i went threw a couple cans i tried to apply as mant coats as i could and still could have put more coats on but got anxious lol.

for sure its n easy touch up. i got 4 rides on it threw the brush and so far so good. after a good scrub down it shines up good with some armor all or whatever you use for a gloss. the plus to this stuff is it doesnt chip like paint would. and if your not pleased with it you can just peel it off without the hassle of sanding and all that. lol i got bored seen some wear from the clutch cable and had some blue hose laying around. i just sliced the hose and placed it over the cable where it was showing wear on the case and frame from rubbing. just put a little zip tie on each end. i also noticed it stopped the clutch cable from moving when the clutch was pulled and released. it gave the clutch a better more solid feel.
