replated cylinder exchange
« on: October 14, 2011, 12:40:37 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has seen the "replated cylinder exchange" listing on e-bay by Discounted Cycle Parts?....or if anyone on here has actually tried one.For $249.80 you supposedly get a completely refurbished cylinder with a one year warranty.I have an extra cylinder laying around and debating whether or not to try one.
Excuse me, ma'am...but you've got extremely nice legs!!!...what time do they open???                                                                                                               https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8tCgN3aryQ

Ive not seen this before, seems like a fair price. I wonder if they replate or if its farmed out to Millinium or other.
Theres also a listing for plating service for $195 any size jug.

well I sent out my extra jug to these guys today...we shall see how it looks when I get it back. The guys name is Larry...said he's been doing motor/machine work for 35 years, and he sounded like he was old enough for there to be some truth to it....we'll see.

I called and talked with him.  I did not get a good impression and he did not want to tell me who did his plating.  He just said "the guy next door".  He did not want to give me a name or business.  So, he did not get my business.  Hope it turns out well for you though.

I bet if the guy didnt do good work he would have very poor feedback on ebay...?
If all else fails, there is always Lukes racing and Millenium technologies.

well...that's the one thing that he does have going for him....ALOT of good feedback.Yeah there are 4 out 640 that were negative, but as we all know, you can't please everyone!.He was very polite and easy to talk to....and if I'm not satisfied,it's only hurting his own business.I'll let everyone know how I make out when it arrives...and I'll post an update after I put some time on it and see how the cylinder's holding up.

well I got my exchanged cylinder back today...super fast exchange. The cylinder I sent out was just an extra one I had lying around my shop, that was givin to me by my buddy for free, and kinda beat up.The place that it was sent to was Racers Toy Store in Greenfield,MN.The guys name was Larry....super nice guy.The cylinder I got back looks BRAND NEW!!...like it MIGHT have had a few rides on it.There's hardly a mark on it...the pipe spring hooks look like there was never a spring on them, and the exhaust port has just a tiny mark from the pipe being in place. The one I sent him was no where near in this good of shape!!.
I will say,I was skeptical about going through with it...but the guy has really good feedback, and fast shipping, and for $250 I would'nt hesitate to send him another.
And yes,I did mic everything, and it's all right where it should be....it even has brand new studs!!
I'll post an update after I get some ride time on it,and see how it's holding up.
