« on: September 27, 2011, 12:54:58 AM »
hi there

does anyone know if a 2004 kx250r engine will fit into a 2011 kx250f frame? without any modifications? or minor mods? thanks

The 04 motor is not that different from an 06 motor, using a 06 motor requires the same mods as a 500 conversion ie frame rails, frame y, head stay. So depending on what you consider minor?

:-) thanks for that, yeah i was hoping it would take less work, i can get a 07 kx450 rolling frame, or the 2011 kx250f rolling frame. would the 07 kx450 be an easier mod? or pretty much the same? where can i get info on how to do the mods in detail? thanks :-)

If the plan is to use the 2t motor I would defineately use the 11 250f chassis. the Showa SFF suspension is superior to the 450 KYB stuff, I had an 11 250f, traded it for a 12 450f while a nice bike the suspension isn't as good. Many guys are picking up the 250f Showa stuff and putting it on their 450's.  As for where to go to find info, right here is as good as it gets, the mods are the same as the 450/500 conversion.
