Green Seat Cover
« on: September 22, 2011, 12:10:15 PM »

Just noticed my '01 5hundie has ripped its seat cover where the subframe rubs on the underside of the seat pan.
Kawasaki does not list a replacement cover.
You guys are the experts.....Any idea where I can find a replacement in green?
I love the look of the color, even the logo is cool!
I will try to repair the cover with some time of patch and could use some guidance with that as well.

Will that stuff hold a tear/worn spot on an edge?
I would think it will need to be reinforced from the inside too?

I suppose grey duct tape does kind of compliment the green....

Hey, maybe some Kawi green racers tape is what I need!

That looks like an OEM '98 seat. The '98 KX's had green seat covers if memory serves me correctly. Looks like you can still get the OEM seat from Kawi :

53001-1850-MF
01' KX500
'84 GPz1100
'87 GSX-R  750
'06 HD Fatboy
'73 Kawi H1
'03 CRG KX500 Shifter kart

Try www.cosmicquads.com

They can do excellent seat covers for any machine.  I am having them do a new cover for my bike right now.
They quoted me $75 for the material, the Kawasaki stencil, the labor to install, and the return shipping is included.

Look at their site and you can see several examples of their seats.
They can do anything from factory stock to wild customs.

i would take it off, back it with a good piece of leather, and use the vinyl repair that pegger suggested. i have done several seat repairs that way. i've been in the leather repair business for 30+ yrs.T

yeah it's a drag you can't just buy the seat cover from Kawie....I've been wanting that same green seat cover you've got Brad for my 95 K5.I was not about to pay $255+ for a whole new seat from Kawie. So I looked on e-bay for almost 4 months EVERYDAY,and wham,a week and a half ago a guy from Kentucky had just listed one 10 MINUTES prior to me looking....and it's in perfect condition....so I'm getting the whole seat for $50.00(still being shipped),and he had O.E.M. white number plates in perfect condition for $35.00,and I grabbed them too.Everything will be in this week.
So that's another option if you have time and paitience to wait for a deal to come around.
