At what compression do you rebuild?
« on: August 07, 2011, 09:51:47 AM »
I was wondering how low to let the compression get on a 1993 kx125 before rebuilding. Mine is still running the same as when I rebuilt it. It is supposed to be 165 with a fresh top end. Mine is a little over that. It is at between 165 and 170 psi right now. I am curious for the future.

I do not race it, so I do not need a perfect performance from it. I am content with enough to enjoy a ride with the friends. I am mostly concerned with keeping it from wearing to the point that I will have disinigrated pistons in my jug.

On my other 2 strokes I go by compression instead of breaking gaskets to inspect the top ends with a caliper. Hoping to do the same for this one.

Posts on other models I'm sure will be helpful for others, so let's hear what you like to do on your different bikes.

Thanks,

Stang.
