Anybody know what standard height on the forks is?
« on: July 13, 2011, 03:43:43 PM »
2001 5hundie, what is the standard height of the forks in the triple trees?
I assume standard is flush but would like confirmation.

Also, is a Clymer service manual a good choice?
the factory service manual is proving an elusive devil up here. anyone have the correct part number?

 Hey BT,
The only place I found a "Standard fork height" was in the Owners Manual pg. 58
in a caption under a pic.  stating standard fork height is 0mm.
The top of the tube at the top of the clamp.  (The cap obviously will be above the top of the triple clamp)

Yes, the clymer  has all the info you need. M447-2   http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Clymer+M447-2&x=22&y=22
I have both, and the clymer has all you need to work with.

Snoop around here and you can see the difference between the products.

Let me know if you need anything specific and I'll see what I can do!

 :-D Thanks so much Friar!

I found a shop that will order me a Factory Service Manual...NO more stupid questions from me.
I love these forums!!!

PS just did the 2000 KX125 rear fender mod! I'm never going back to stock.

God bless the 5hundies!! (Mine is affectionately known as "The Monster" in these parts.

BT,
You can usually find the manuals on amazon, ebay, or order them directly from kawasaki.
Be prepared for some sticker shock.  I got mine about seven years ago and they were about $80.
Please don't worry about any silly questions, the guys still allow me here, so post away...
