Opinions Welcome.
« on: July 13, 2011, 11:40:48 AM »
Ok guys. I need you honest opinions. Some things have come up and have listed my bike. Problem is I have only had a few bites. I need some help. Do I re-word the ad? Am I asking to much? Or is no one really looking to buy the big K5? Help please. All comments welcome. Thanks Ricky

Here is the Ad.

i would say the price is about right.. get rid of the purple tho and you will have more people wanting to look at it ( my opinion) and try putting it on kijiji as well.. i think more people are using that now a days

I understand the purple hurts it. If I did replace the plastics. The sell price would go up too. I'm already losing $600 from what I have in it.

Could try ebaying it in pieces. I dont know that youd get all your asking but if you gotta move it. I like the purple, I did a purple CR500, try finding plastic for that.
Market value on any old 500 is kinda crap from a selling perspective, unles you go AF

Usually this site pics up craigslist so you might be in more places than you think

Parting the bike really isn't a good option. Would take months to disperse it all. Any pics on the CR500?

I believe it's harder to sell a 500 2stroke,,,it's a small market but I think you're fair on your price. The right person, who can appreciate the quality of your k5 might take a while.

Thats exactly what I keep telling myself.  Be patient.

I've parted 2 in the last year or so first round listing it's prettywell gone, but that aint worrying about top dollar either. About $1500 total. When you gotta have cash or you got it for $1000 it's not a bad turn. Not for everyone though, thank goodness

Everything is good on the add, its just like they said no one buys 500s, I got my from the 2nd owner for $1000, with owners manual, and recipt/info on the FMF/jet kit, and have only put a chain/sprocket set on it.

there is a good market here in the uk for engine kits, you could get around ?1000/$1500ish for the engine, cdi, carb, kicker but you would have to ship to the uk. i am sure you could get the remainder ok your asking price for the chassis. however it would be a shame to split such a nice bike. just a thought if you get sick of waiting

Be patient, not everybody is looking for a 500. The color wouldnt bother me at all. There is a local dealer that has had a clean, used 2000 500 for about 4-5 years! Not saying that you will have yours that long.
A couple of 03 and 04 KXs, a few YZs, 3 PE 400s, a DR and a TS.

Few issues..

1. You dont even list the year... that matters to some..

2. its Purple.

3. Sadly the market for the Big K5 sucks.   even here I can buy nice ones all day long for $1400..      even at that.. they sit on craigslist for months on end..

Heck.. I got my DOCUMENTED Jeff ward bike, with fresh top end, etc for $850..   because it sat on craigs for so long... the guy just wanted to trade it for a Kx80 for his son... So I found a Nice Kx80 for $850  and traded him...   (beat's the $1400 he was down to after 6 months)

Man, this really makes me wish I was living somewhere else. I would have so many more bikes.

It's very tough to find a good KX500 for under $3500 around here. JUNK is $1900. I've got more like $6500 in mine after buying and doing everything on it.

Here you can pick'm up for about a grand a go on the k5 anyway. Not old one's either. Got a 99 for $1000, then bought another 99 for $1300 but it came with a near complete spare motor. 500's arent nearly as appreciated as they ought to be. Latest & greatest rules... not
