Not sure why you ended up with 7 ? Did one get misplaced ? You definately need 8 fibre drive plates and 7 steel driven plates . I also noticed Kawasaki has superceeded the original fibre plate # severall times, so maybe you have a mixture of the original, and the newer p/n ? This possibly explains why you have 2 different facing configurations on the drive plates. Did you save the parts bags ? What are the # on the bags ?

The clutch plates in my YZ450 are weird as well. The 1st fibre plate that goes against the inner hub is a different p/n than the other 8
