Updates one some colorado pass's... (watching these.. as I have ridden them.. so I know them)..   (well I didnt do california, as when I rode through, it was snowed in... (May 31 4 years ago)....

5/2/12 - Silverton to Animas Forks via CR2 is open - not so much snow up there this year. It's still beautiful and no traffic now! The trail is in good condition.

5/2/12 - The Engineer Pass is open from Silverton and Animas Forks to OH!  The trail is damp but in  great condition.

5/16/12 - California Gulch Mostly dry with snow banks on both sides part of the way. Few puddles

5/16/12 - California PassTrail is open all the way with some snow patches (minor that don't cover the road the entire road). Some mud also. Passable by 4x4, motorcycle with good off road tires.

5/16/12 - Cinammon pass Dry with a couple puddles.

5/16/12 - Marshall pass Closed on the west side of the summit. They are doing road work and had the road torn in half at the bottom where the road crosses a creek. Cannot get past unless you take smaller trails.

News said "heavy snow" in idaho over weekend... can anyone confirm this?

May push "launch date" out a few weeks..   (as is. still watching snow on pass's)..   looking more like mid to late june than June 4... (snow is the clock)..

also decided to put in a 14Er..     either Pikes peak, or Mt Evans..

also going do re-route to Mosquito pass... the Highest Motorized drivable pass in colorado... (dirt). hits 13185Ft

I wish I could find time to do a ride like yours.  When I have the time, I seem to never have the money.
When I have the money I can't get the time off.  I was doing a little research.....

Pikes Peak 14,114 feet  is a mountain in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, 10 miles west of Colorado Springs, Colorado, in El Paso County in the United States of America.

Mount Evans is a 14,265 feet mountain in the Front Range region of the Rocky Mountains, in Clear Creek County, Colorado. It is one of 54 fourteeners in Colorado, and the closest fourteener to Denver.

Mosquito Pass 13,186 feet is a high mountain pass in the Mosquito Range of central Colorado in the United States. The pass lies on the boundary between Lake and Park counties between Leadville and Fairplay.

Ya know david... I used to say the same thing..   then I realized that if I kept telling myself either of those... I would never do it.. so I just did it one day..

since then.. it is alot easyer..

I have had some rides, where all I eat is beef stew out of a can and sleep in the dirt due to funds...      Honestly how much does it cost to do that..   few bucks a day, plus fuel..  (my KTM pulls about 50mpg on a ride like this)

it is what you make it...   There are a few over on advrider planning the route im doing on the way down.. and they have spent THOUSANDS getting their bikes ready etc.. (buying all new Ohlins suspension, etc etc)...  Motel every night in $$ towns.    etc...

and here is a picture for 81cr450 who says my bikes are too clean..  (yes thas the back of one of my bags)
