Thanks tom and RD it looks like the 250 and 500 are the same and I noticed on bikebandit they have an oem area and the part numbers were identical so those years 250 and 500 are identical.

According to that box this part should work

Just an old guy that enjoys going fast, I was in the army for 6 years and bought my first K5 when I returned from basic training. I raced a yz60 from age 6 to 8  a kx80 from 8 to 12  a kx125 from 12-17 intermediate class on k5 which I've owned 3.

Got a 92 250 Hinson basket sitting around if anyone wants some measurements. Will directly try fitting it if things seem to add up

That would be great marco because the 91-92 KX250 hinson basket is still available and our problems are over with plus they still make an inner hub and pressure plate for the 250 so that would be even better.

Boy will I feel stupid if it's been sitting right under my nose all this time :) I'll call hinson and ask them if the specs are the exact same too that way we're double covered in case we miss something they should know if they are identical.

RD when did you buy that basket?

Sniper

Got it with a parts bike. The basket is in the motor from the parts bike. I could probably get pics and measurments if needed.

Thanks Roger

That would be great with marco and your measurements then I'll get hinson to check the specs against the K5 and see if it is the same that way we triple check so nobody gets the wrong part and chances are I'll guine pig it on this one lol.

Thanks marco and kaw rider it sure would be nice if that 91-92 250 basket would be the one :) we wouldn't have to worry about filling a quota to have them made.

I wonder why the box that RD has shows 91-92 KX250 and 86-04 KX500 that is just odd unless hinson never stopped to notice that they were the same and just stamped the k5 basket with KX500 and charged more :) nah nobody would do that and if we get enough people to have hinson do a run and the 250 basket doesn't work I'll delete my wiseguy comment before showing this thread to hinson lol.

This box has me perplexed

On another note there were a lot of parts that crossed over from that year 250 to the 500 and that has come in handy a couple times so far.

the 3 measurements i got from this kx500 hinson basket is different from the spec from that 250 hinson basket. the best thing at this point is for somebody to send me a 90-91 kx250 stock or hinson basket so i can compare them to this kx500 hinson basket. i think with some help from other we as a group can make this work.

That's too bad. I wonder is the 90 to 91 is the ticket?

I sure hope someone has a 91-92 basket to send to you this would be great if this works :)

According to the bikebandit schematic the parts are the same from basket to inner hub and pressure plate :)
