1988 cylinder in a 1992 crankcase
« on: May 30, 2018, 05:56:17 AM »
Hi, I´m new in this forum and first I want to say hello to you all, and apologise first if my english is not so good because my native country is chile. Done that, I have a 1992 kx 500 and the first owner lost the cylinder and I bought a 1988 piston and cylinder, so as I know the only difference is that the 88 cylinder has 2 exhaust valves and the 92 motor has 3 exhaust valves, so can I use the 88 cylinder in the 92 crankcase?

Regards

The Chilean Newbie

Hi tdiazl, welcome to the site.  The 88 cylinder is a one year wonder, but it should fit on your later cases just fine.  The 88 motor is closer in design to the later motors than it is to the 85-87 motors.
Perhaps I have a dirt bike addiction?
