So i am a newb to the forum and the world of KX500 Conversions- I have a 2004 KX250f Rolling chassis and a 95 KX 500 Motor that im bringing to gether into one- Two questions- Firstly,is it easiest to find a KX500 Donor frame and cut the front wishbone out of it and weld it to the KX250f frame, and secondly, What are people using for exhausts on these? Im aware that there will be modifications necessary on the pipe, but what is the best to start with? KX500 pipe or CR500AF Pipe or what? Any help will be greatly appreciated to hopefully make this go as smoothly as possible- Oh,and third, do i just use the radiators off the KX250f and replumb the rad hoses? Thanks

  Hey Dave,
Welcome to the site.  I can't help with the fab work, but there are lots of guys here who have done great conversions.
Don't get discouraged if you don't get a bunch of responses right off.  Mondays seem to be recovery day, stay tuned and glad to have you with us.

I have done this very conversion. I chose to cut the front section of frame out of the 500 because I had a donor and also I had no way of bending new frame rails.
I would start with a pipe for a 90' or newer CR500 and cut the front section off a k5 pipe.
I chose to reuse and move the ports on the 250f rads.
You can PM me with any other questions if you would like. my name is Ryan

hi ryan- do you happen to have any pics of your frame mods, pipe mods, and rad mods? i am more of a visual person, and a picture is worth a thousand words- pictures would be very helpful-also,pipe wise,a 90 or newer cr500 pipe and what year of kx500 pipe for the front section? also, what year of donor kx 500 frame should i be looking for? thirdly, how extensive were the modifications to the kx250f rads, and what did you use for rad hoses?

thanks so much
