And lo, I did loft the front wheel and carried it forth to the unbelievers, and cast it down before them and said unto them ''look now upon the might of my throttle control ye pitiful cretinous ones''
And the unbelievers did quake in their boots....

Lets talk about the powervalves for a minute, the 86 were steel, the 87s aluminum? what were the 88s?

i was under the impression the valves are aluminium and the rod that drives them is steel hence when glooped up with carbon, the teeth on the valves fail before the rod that accentuates them.the 88 up gears are interchangeable, the 88 cases use a smaller countershaft sprocket bearing than the 89 on models otherwise the bottom ends seem identical.

OK. I am new to the k5. I love my 2002 kx500, I will say its a great bike. I have also learned a lot in this website. So props to everyone who supports it. Excuse my typos if any, all I am using is my android phone and can be difficult sometimes to type. Why have come across many people who own or owned  k5s and  cr500s and have a difficult time starting them? Is it just this happens with the older generation k5s or is it the craftsmanship of a rebuilt motor? My k5 has always started on one  or two kicks. Just curious. Thanks
