My '89 KX125 rebuild
« on: April 23, 2011, 12:30:58 AM »
Hey everyone, great site! I picked up this '89 KX125 last November and restored it over the winter. Here are some pics of the rebuild. Does anyone know where I can find decals for this bike? They're not available OEM and reproductiondecals.com only has them for the '89 KX250...

Great job !  Mine is almost done and will look very similar.

MXM makes OEM-style shroud decals with thick material.  Contact them.

Where did you get the blue fork boots?

MXM should have correct uni-trak decals (I did not get those, only the shroud decals).

Also get them here -

Nice build! Its great to see the older kx's preserved, they seem to be the minority for rebuilt bikes.
For decals and plastics dont forget to check http://nightmare-racing.com/ . If they dont list what you want email them and ask, they also like to see pics of your builds.
That RM in the background looks to be a 400.

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments. I got the correct looking decals from rddecal.com. A little pricey but worth it. I found the blue fork boots on eBay. Not 100% correct but very close.

And yes, that's my '79 RM400 in the background. I restored it about 2 years ago. Make sure you all post up your rebuilds too!

Hey raptor68 and Swe_K5_89 -

Are the RDdecal and Swedish ones the real thick (16-mil) material that will hold up to racing and power washing or are they somewhat thin design?

The MXM ones are the real thick material.

thanks

I have bought two sets for my K5 -89 and it's the original decals. Have been sitting on my bike for two seasons now and still really nice.
