Huntin Dog

Did some training for the Huntin dog today, to remind it of why it exsists at my house... (quail and dove season has been off for some time now)...

Great pictures and thanks for sharing. I haven't seen a quail in ten or so years. Good luck on hunting.

The best quail dog I ever had was half Greyhound and half Pit Bull (Really)
Sometimes she got more than me.
She was totally self taught.
After I brought down two, she came over and sniffed the birds.
Within a few minutes she brought me one still alive.
By the end of the day she had caught several.
Nothing better then fresh quail and wild rice...

It took alot of work to get "Dixie" to stop doing that.... Hunting for themselfs makes it very hard to hunt in my neck of the woods. (high desert)...    Need to get them to stop and point... and hunt for you...

We have a BUNCH of Boss Hogs running free AND multiplying here in South Florida. Funny thing is when it gets real cold they just keel over.

We used to have English pointers and a few English setters. Quail has all but dissappeared in central Alabama. The piss ants and coyotes give them no chance when they hatch off. Pen raised quail make for a boring hunt. Now were back on the squirrels.

My hunting partner got into a bunch of rat poison tonight...    Caught her eating it... Spent next 2 hours inducing vomiting to clear her system...    Administered large doses of activated charcoal...

The active ingredient was a nervous system drug (brain swelling).   Lethal dose for dog my weight is 48mg of the active ingredient...  From my calculations with my gram scale... She ingested between 300-500 mg.    Yea not good..

Wife is currently driving her to animal ER...

But from what I read on this drug...  I'm screwed

hows your dog motorrad? if you can catch them in the act, you have a good chance of saving them.
I lost 2 of my 3 dogs recently one to a powerline cherry picker ( chased a wallaby under the wheels), and the other to a aussie buffalo.
starting a pack rebuild just got a female rhodesian ridgeback pup.

will be back in buisiness..

Figured I would throw one up of our boy 'Benz'. German Wirehaired Pointer. Hunt fur or feather, swim like fish, hunt until they drop. Motorrad, I see that side by side! Duel triggers too! Man after my own heart! Hope the link is still good!

Well, squirrel season is gone for another year. We had a good last month though. 71 in 5 hunts for Feb.
I love the huntin' dogs. That pic. of Motorrads bird dog brings back good memories.
