I admire your spirit kid. some of the other bits and pieces you may need are a torquewrench, and non drying sealer such as blue hylomar, and some grease.a clymer manual off ebay is also a must.best 20 dollars you,ll spend. As for making this a bit easier for you, go onto youtube and search '2 stroke engine rebuild'. there are a couple of good ones on there from rocky mountain atv and tobys2strokes. watch them both, and when you,ve watched em both.............................................................
watch em again..................
And lo, I did loft the front wheel and carried it forth to the unbelievers, and cast it down before them and said unto them ''look now upon the might of my throttle control ye pitiful cretinous ones''
And the unbelievers did quake in their boots....

something else for you to think about whilst your at it, if you rev an engine flat out for a long time in say,.......2nd gear, when the engine gets to its maximum speed, it stops accelerating the bike as you havent changed up.this means the engine is no longer under load.an engine revving flat out whilst not under load will eat itself quickly.won't it?get on your pushbike, take the chain off the crank whilst leaning the bars against a wall, and with the crank disconnected from the back wheel, try to pedal as fast as you can.if your doing it right, your knees will feel the difference of not being under load.its not pleasant at pedalling speed, needless to say at 14000 rpm it can get downright expensive.have a good read thru the threads on here, you'll learn a lot.K.

@kwakman I understood every word you said lol! I will probably buy a service manual when I regain some money. I bought the bike for 550 and im already $1150 into it meanwhile the most I could sell the bike is about 750. I have watched rocky mountain atv's rebuild video about 4 times haha.

@delphipro5 I am planning on purchasing a manual. My friend got me into this stuff because he has a klx 140 and when my bike runs I don't know who would win down a straight street. lol

Thanks for the advice everyone!

you should go looking around the house for stuff to sell to fund the bike.
for example i sold a soccer ball on ebay for $200 and i bought a clutch hub, clutch springs and swing arm bearings. for my 94 rm250
not a bad deal for a dusty old soccer ball!

just to clarify, i was only joking about selling the grandparents.you'd have trouble shipping them....

+1 +1 +1 all great advice. Chris, it is going to make you puke how much$$ goes into this! If you get into doing this type of stuff especially on dirt bikes. You will never be able to sell them for what you put into them! But what you will LEARN, just doing a carb. rebuild (THE RIGHT WAY!) is tremendous! The experience will be indespensible later in life. Worth every penny. Check out my thread labeled-- "My 2004 KDX 220" Almost got it runnin, and I now call that bike "The learning experience"      Are you experienced  (sorry guys, had to make the hendrix comment)

Hahahahahaha ...... Reading this qoute made me feel alot better! :-)

@Chris-mets dont worry mate i'm 27 and only just started this as a hobby, i been riding for years but buying scrappers
chucking bikes away when they are done! Finally thought i wanna take care of something and have it in top condition...

Trust me, even if you've done a thousand things wrong, you still did the first one right.... Joing kxriders! Guys here are so helpful! Second step buy a manual! Then pick up a spanner! let us know how you get on! I'm still doing my 91 kx250 rebuild....so far i've done Frame, breaks, suspension, swing arm, all bearings replaced, sproket's, chain and tyres.....

ONLY now have i decided to pull the engine out and look at that.....

But reading this has made me feel better about where i am too, so thank you for that!! Just stick at it and take your time as a wise man once said to me lol (1989kawasaki)
Roses are red, Pussies are pink, show me yours and i'll buy you a drink

Thanks everyone for the help! I remember when I got my first bike I didn't even know how to turn the ignition key on :) I thought it was broken the little ttr90 :) I am almost done with the funding. All I might need is the sealing glue you put on when you reseal the middle cases. My friend has a torque wrench. I was thinking the only torquing I probably need to do is the 4 head bolts. What do I torque it to? Thanks everyone!
