Subframe?
« on: September 07, 2004, 03:39:12 AM »
My Subframe is twisted, if I had a new one I could figure out how to straighten mine! :x
Is there any place that straightens them, that I could send it off too?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Alan

That AC Racing piece is top notch and strong as an ox to boot, of course if Alan would avoid those "Geritol" spells he wouldn't need a new one

Alan, come to Glamis with us Oct 22 - Oct 24  :drunk:

Good one Paul!

But it wasn't me I keep letting my buddies ride my KX , Like a dumb ASS! This time is pretty much it! I just can't afford my friends  on my toys any longer!
I have never dumped my KX, except just letting it slide out on a corner in the sand!
I looked at the AC racing one yesterday and it looks like its round not square stock!

Thanks for your comments!

Alan  :)

I've had the AC Racing subframe and it was square tubbing.  They look nice but in my opinion are not as strong as the stock steel ones.  The AC Racing ones are aluminum.  Paul saw how I bent my last subframe.  It was a simple (but funny) loop.  The subframe wasn't bent too bad but enought to warrent a new one.

I also have the ac racing subframe. It's square tubing.I like that the inserts don't spin when you tighten the bolts, but the fit isn,t anything to brag about.

Stock ones, steel?

Mines aluminium on a 90 KX and I thought all the later ones had alluminium subframes :?

In all honesty Dan that loop would've bent any of them. The bikes weight was on the rear fender once it stood up. It was humorous though ;)

they are square.  The picture is a subframe from another bike.

p.s.  I thought all the K5's stock subframes were aluminum.  Am I wrong?

I thought that they changed over in the late 80s :D

I had an 86 one with a steel rear subframe but my 90 has an alluminium subframe fitted as standard which is why some people add a little angle where the chain can rub the subframe :)
