what front ends can i put on a 1988 kx500 how new in kx front ends can i go and what forks will my front tire fit on

 all kx500 front ends between 88-04 will fit also kx 125 and 250 1889 also uk spec 89 upside down forks and yokes will fit too. i am sure you will get many other forks to fit from the 125/250, triple clamps may be a problem you may have to find the right 1s from the bikes above to match the forks that you choose

It sounds like you already know this but if you change over to a newer fork also look at getting the matching triple clamps, front brake caliper, front axle, and wheel.
Depending on what you go with you may or may not need the wheel.
The caliper mounting hole spacing changed a bit over the years.
All of these are KX500:
83-86 used 62mm hole spacing.
87-88 used 89mm hole spacing.
89 used 78mm hole spacing.
90??? probably 78mm but I do not have that info recorded
91-93 used 60.5mm hole spacing.
94-04 used 104mm  hole spacing.
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.
