Except,,,,,, he is keeping the engine and electronics  :-(
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

Update on Project CR500AF.........within a week of pulling my cr250 motor and putting it up on craigslist......today was about fate......In the same day I got a call from a fellow that wanted my 250 motor and I found a guy that didn't know the value of the CR500 motor in his garage......The following took place within 2 hours of one another.

Drove down to Bakersfield to meet the dude that gave me $500 bucks for my 97 CR250 motor, carb, electronics

Then Drove up to Visalia to meet the dude that sold me his CR500 motor, carb, electronics for $700.

Looking around craigslist and ebay I cannot find a CR motor, carb, and electronics for under $1500, and a complete running bike for under $2000.  I think I did ok.

you can get complete bikes here for less than a grand those ebay prices don't mean s**t 99.9% of the cr500 and kx500 motors people want 1000-1500$ for just sit there and don't sell I'm about to buy another k5 for 900$ very clean and runs strong but with the prices everyone wants for their stuff these days I think you did pretty good finding one for half the price those the thieves want on ebay

There is a 500cc race going on right now in my garage!!  Kawasaki vs. Honda, KX vs. CR, Steel Frame vs. Aluminum Frame, 1997 vs. 1998, Powervalve vs. Non-Powervalve, 499cc vs. 491cc (.020 over), Green vs. Red!!

The KX chassis is done but waiting on a motor.....
The CR motor is done but waiting on a chassis.....

WHO WILL WIN??!!
