Ive seen tanks that were wet sanded then buffed that came out pretty nice. Its alot of work though. Ive been restoring a 84 Red KDX200 that had a chalky tank. It looks alot better than it did but its far from perfect. I coated it with Plastic Renew but that wont withstand a gas spill. It will be used for vintage class racing so Im not too concerned.
Yours appears to be in very good shape, why even bother with it? Mine on the other hand looks way worse, I used some mr clean extra power magic erasers on it and it looks a bit better now...
