According to Kawasaki and Pro Circuit only 04 works with 04.
However, I have never tried to put any other pipes on one so I don't know what the real differences are.
Anyone else ever tried?
The four stroke engine: That's one stroke for producing power and three for wearing the engine out.

no you cant as the 04 and 03 kx 250 pipe slides into the cylinder where as the 05-07 slip over the cylinder flange

The 03 and 04 pipes will work on either bike. The difference between the 2 is that they changed the mounts on the pipe. The 04 has a mount on the top right side of the pipe where as the 03 has the mount by the stinger end of the pipe. Since you are putting it in a af frame and have to fab up mounts, it really wouldnt make a difference what year pipe you use. 05-07 is the slip over flange. Silencers are interchangeable from 03-07 also.
A couple of 03 and 04 KXs, a few YZs, 3 PE 400s, a DR and a TS.
