2001 KX250 engine mod's

Hi,
 I just picked up this bike & would like to get the max amount out of the engine, looking for a little bit more low & mid for intermediate terrain supercross-type track ... any one recommend a source for porting, bolt-ons? Is ProCircuit good, since they worked Carmicheal's bikes during that era? Also any other suspension/chassis setup info would be appreciated!  Thanks, Joe.

v force blocks an investment ,hgs pipe (europe), port cleanup make it more efficient, i cant recommend it unless you know what your doing but i got rid of all the electronic bumf on the carb on my 2003 run much better than my mates 2005 .jet it to perfection, they dont realy need anything else its quick enough
again its personal preference i use 40:1 fully synthetic 2t

forgot ... 90 - 100 sag on rear unit if you can afford it get an ohlins ..the nuts front a bit of a personel pref again ,standard settings arnt too far off the mark on the forks , the rear end works big time if your not sure how much work the shocks done get a gas and oil change makes a big old difference!

Pro Action not only does great suspension work , but they also do great engine mods. Porting is top notch , and they will port to your riding stye , I had 3 kx250's ported for top end by 3 different companies and the Pro Action set-up was by far the strongest runner. They also did their carb mod to my carb , worked great on bottom end. I'm sure if you had them do your susp. & engine mods together you would get a better deal on pricing.CBX

Do the chassis setup yourself.  Go to www.racetech.com  Get the appropriate front fork spring and rear spring for your body weight.  Also get the type 2 gold valve kit for supercross.  This will stop the front from pushing and allow it to turn better while also giving you better mid corner feedback.

Get your jetting right. Go to http://www.jdjetting.com/ and get the appropriate jet kit for your bike. FMF and Procircuit make great stuff for two strokes pipewise.

Adjust the characteristics of your engine by advancing or retarding the ignition.  Cost nothing and is in the service manual.

To get rid of all the "electronic bumf" on the carb, do I just unplug it and jet it? or is there more to the disabling of the power-jet system?
or...
should i just use the pwk38 off of my '97? would that be more straight forward then?

The best motor mod I ever did to my 99-02 KX 250's was the installation of a flat top piston with the head mod done by Tom Morgan. Jay Clark, a former Wiesco rep gave me the head and Piston one year at Mammoth Mountain MX, he guaranteed that it would be the most impressive 250 I ever rode, he was right. I never tried it on any of the newer 250's, they seemed to be pretty impressive as it was. OK, now having said that, I don't really think you probably need more power, what I suspect you need is a means to use all the power you have, and to do that the first place I'd start is with the suspension, and who you chose is up to you but in my experience you ar better off to chose some small shop, if you go to one of the big houses and don't have a reputation you get the standard stuff that everybody gets, or maybe nothing at all but a big charge. I sent suspension to Enzo, cost me $800 got it back and my son complained that it was to harsh in the whoops, called them and they said it was perfect he was chopping the throttle in the whoops, so after 3 of these calls I tore into it myself to find that the valving had never been changed the peening on the shock nut was never ground off, called them again only to be told that I was basically full of it. So to this day I never reccommend Enzo and recommend that nobody sends there stuff to them.
