Jump or not?
« on: May 06, 2004, 07:19:59 AM »
Hello everybody!
I?ve missing you. :D

Will tell you a story about a man called "doordie" who maybe have a deadwish! : 8)

I run out with my kx500 on our mx-track for the first time after the GGN-race in november. Have put on a V-force and the bike sounded GoooD... Wraap,Wraap.  8)

Turned nice in a turn then locked ahead for a straight and roll on the gas in second gear.
See a jump and preparing myself for a big"nice" jump like Paul
but what the He..?

The trottle is stucked on fully open
Try to reach the turn-off, but can?t do it ?cause wheeling.....!
Said to myself:
Do you wanna die now or later?
Decide to live a little bit longer and let it go.
Jump off and see my mistress go by her self.

After some air-leakage and seeing stars, I turn around on stomach and see she was badly damage.
When I got back home a turn it apart to see what went wrong.
The gasroller(plastic) was cracked were you put your hand to get grip.

So everybody:
Check your stock plastic gasroller if you have it !!!
Mine was old, maybe from 1992.

 That's never fun to have that happen, I was out riding a few weeks back riding trails and decided to wheelie over a puddle of mud instead of smash it, and when I did, it stuck wide open and sent me in the dirt (HARD) and flipped back so hard that it bent the silencer/subframe, and the rear fender. what hurt worse was the impact to the ground, d**n that bike wheelies hard! I know your feeling, but I'm abck and running now!

No kidding, Just replaced my bars and trottle cable after watching the 99 do a loop and ahalf after it dumped me off. I can't blame the bike!!! but I was able to inspect my trottle tube while changing bars and grips. Not only do they wheelie hard, Gowen, but quick, too. Not a pretty site, on my knees watching the old girl land upside down. Hope your ok, doordie and she back together.

Since we dirt bike riders tend to spend at least some time on the ground, it is also common to have dirt find its way between the bars and the throttle tube.  This, too, can cause the throttle to get stuck in various positions.   I peridocially remove the bottom cover on the throttle assembly and blow air in the gap between the bars and the tube to push out any dirt or sand.  Helps keep me off the ground a little...

Can't wait to get back on the bike after the last crash, but still another four weeks.  Oh well, footpegs, kickstand, and other changes are coming along nicely.

All that matters is that you're O.K....

A lot of us could learn from your sense of humor.

Great post!
