Swing arm aluminum
« on: October 13, 2010, 01:43:20 PM »
Does anyone know what type of aluminum the swing arm is made of? A friend is teaching me to TIG weld, and he asked me. I'm going to fill in the spot where the chain wears through.

Neither are stock, and both are great desert bikes.

Most all aluminum tubing is 6061 or 6063. A 5356 filler rod is harder than 4043 but either will work for what you are trying to do. For good repairs on 6061 use a 5356 filler.
