Stator removal??

This is probably just out of my patience range right now after tearing down the top end and finding a broken piston, horribly scored head and chunks missing out of the cylinder wall.  Can someone enlighten me on how you get to the stator.  Under the stator cover I am at a cap with phillips head screws around the perimeter and a 17mm nut in the middle.

 Your going to need a 27mm flywheel puller,
(Looks like This)

              Remove the flywheel  and expose the stater for testing or
or replacement.

Be careful!!...stator screws are probably philips head and really soft. Strip them out and feel your blood boil from an already heated situation, been there.
 I use a large philips bit to fit very snug on a small hammer type impact driver give em a light whack and they break free. If you should strip them a cutoff
wheel on a dremel rotary tool will cut a slot for a  straight blade screwdriver(impact)

can someone post pics of them doing the removal  for referance would be awesome  has anyone did the flywheel weight  is it worth the trouble of doing or put a pvl  system on the k5 any info would be awesome thanks

They are a #3 philips and most people try to remove them with a #2.  But they are soft.

PVL works great.  Don't listen to the naysayers. The fastest drag bikes in the world run them.  I love mine.  Use .090 btdc timing setting.

i know alot of guys that use them on there cr500 and dont have problems like some of the guys with the kx500 motor.

I think you are more apt to hear about the problems people have. It's like at work, you could do a thousand things right every day and no one ever says anything about it but if you screw up once then everyone hears about it.
