Premix
« on: August 12, 2010, 05:49:31 AM »
I went to my local shop today to get some Maxima SuperM, to my dismay they were out of it.  The only Maxima products they had left were Fromula K2 and Castor 927.  Each was a 16oz bottle so I picked up one of each.  I've never used either one though I have heard Castor 927 is good oil but very dirty and gums up the powervalve...it does smell good though.  I know nothing about Formula K2.  I run my SuperM at 50:1 and plan on using this oil I got at 50:1 also.  So are both of these oils good to use at my dilution?  I'll try again this weekend to see if they have my 16oz bottles of SuperM.

:?  ya not to highjack but whats the deal when the bottle says mix at 50:1 and the bike says to mix at 32:1?  The synth is that good it protects with only 50:1??

Alot of guys I know swear by the Castor927...and it does smell great...you know when your behind a bike running it....

I run the Bel-ray H1R at 40:1 or even 50:1 without any issues. The synthetic's can safely be run at 50:1. The Amsoil Dominator can be run at either 50:1 or even 100:1 per the bottle and I've read of people running it like that!

I've always used Castrol TTS (or R2 when they sold it). Never had any problems. I did hundreds of (abusive) hours on my '95 KDX200 at 32:1 using it, that thing just kept going and going. I also use it in my KTM SX200 at 40:1. I think I'll leave the 100:1 for someone else to try :) I'm going to stick with what's guaranteed to work.

I've used 927 for quite a while and never gummed up anything on my '93,,,but I run the desert with its higher speeds.

Been running Klotz R50 at 40:1 for the past 20 years. Not a single engine issue (at least related to oil or  premix ratios).  After pulling powervalves on a Klotz oiled engine the power valves look really clean.

Ive run the Castor 927 since day one. Love the lubrication and smell.
