Welcome to the gang, There have been guys who have swapped out suspension componants without too much trouble if I remember correctly. There are also places you can send your current shock to be re-valved and re-built.
Unfortunately it does always come down to money. I re-built my rear shock for about $100.00
A service manual,seals, and nitrogen. If the replacement shock doesn't pan out maybe we can help you either re-build your old one or recommend somewhere to send it off to.
I think first off you should get the dimensions of your current shock, Travel, length and bolt sizes for each end.
Then maybe some of the guys can check that against their "stock" and look for something close.
