 Hey Rob,
 Glad you found us.
Lighting is not unatainable, however it is not cheap, and involves a bit of research, ( I know, that's why you asked..) and wiring. There are several guys who have plated their KX for the street.

There's a few places to start, a quick Bing resulted in 5 pages.

You generally get what you pay for,(20 dollar carbon reeds) are the reeds chipped, cracked or not lying flat against the reed block?
I think you would be way better spending the $20.00 on a service manual, There is lot's to learn about keeping the bike running and how to get the most out of it.
KX's have come with both carbs,

well thx for the reply! my reeds are fine the only thing is i bog a lil bit and i was wondering if some nice carbon fiber reeds would help me. she runs nice after shes nice and warmed up thoroughly. and for $20 i dont think their value can be beat. and i already have a service manual! u think it would be possible to do some low voltage car lights that would bolt on to my handle bars? cuz i have seen that on another forum

 Like these helmet mounts?
http://www.niterideroffroad.com/hm.shtml
I do remember a Dirtrider 24hr race they used those, now that you mention it...
They have re-chargeable battery packs that plug in to power the lights. Some mounted on their helmet and some on the bikes handlebars.
Your bike looks to be in great shape,  8-)
