exhaust valve main rod
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:44:10 AM »
Hi on my 93 k125 i have oil coming out through the main rod that sticks out the side of the cylinder from the exhaust valve assembly.  I know it must be the seal or the o ring on the valve guide. What i call the valve guide is the guide on the main rod that is held in by the little screw head that overlaps its edge.

Here is a schematic.  Valve guide: #49002. Seal: #92049.

Now, my question is, should the valve guide that the o ring sits on be in there really tight or should it be loose.  Mine is loose.  If you pull the shaft, you can see it wobbling.  I am going to get a new seal, does the guide need replacing too or is that normal?

I always replace the o-ring and seal on the power valve anytime I service the top end. They go bad.

That guide should be tight, you should have to give it a good push to get it to go in and seat (the o-ring causes the tight seal).

I think so, yes. Two stroke oil gets on those PV parts from the cylinder and the o-ring and seal are there to keep it on the inside and not leaking out all over the cylinder.

yeah, mine has been leaking out all over the cylinder for a while now.  I'll try just replacing the o ring and seal and see what happens.
thanks for the help.
