mint 2002 kx500 for sale
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:38:25 AM »
Did anyone see the kx5 that was for sale on ebay last week. Is a 2002 that had been purchased in 2003 and stored in a climate controlled  dealer showroom floor up until now, never been ridden. absolutely factory mint condition with a buy it now price of $5500 US. If i lived in the US i would have bid on it, i paid $4500 AUS for my 2000 k5 and have been replacing worn parts since purchase, has cost me about $6500 AUS so far.

That bike has been relisted a few times now. Originally the guy had his reserve price set to high. I think it was $6500 which for close to that price can get you a KX500AF. I'm not sure what the reserve was the second time but didn't make it high enough to sell. I gave up on watching it after that. It is a very nice bike though.

Howzitgoin Goat,I wonder if he had a bid for $5500 would he take it do you remember if it had any bids before? this listing got no bites.  its interesting what u were saying about the AF costing about $6500, coz on ebay australia some guy is trying to sell a kx500af, his starting bid was $17500 AUS he had no bites and has relisted for $16500 starting bid. This is the sort of mark up on prices for anything coming out of the US to AUS, any parts in AUS are at least 20-30% dearer than buying direct from US.

There were quite a few bids on it before but it didn't meet his reserve requirements. There has been a good amount of K5's on ebay lately and I'm betting that everyone went and got a cheaper one instead of wasting their time on the 2002 that's been relisted twice now.

Why is there such a high markup in AUS?

Hey Goat, I dont know why the mark up is so high in OZ, our dollar is at 90US cents to the Aus $1 so things should be getting cheaper, but i've noticed recently that postage has gone through the roof from US to Aus and i cant work out why.I have to email 1/2 dozen aftermarket parts sellers to find a good deal on postage, not the price of the items i want to buy just the postage. the worlds just goin crazy.

Postage went up slightly to ship within the states as well. I want to say it raised a dollar more. Sucks that they charge so much to ship outside the US.
