John, I know what you mean about letting someone ride your K5.  It's simple "Just say NO!"
Let them ride the blue bicycle.

Iceman, I don't think you could ever buy a complete set of factory Kawi decals. You need to buy each decal individually from Kawi, and it is very expensive. When the bikes were still in production Factory Effex made replicas for current year. If you watch ebay long enough, they occasionally still come up. I've bought Factory Effex replica graphics kits for 1997, 1998, and 1999 years. Then bought a few sets of new UFO shrouds, and can change around the look of the bike in a few minutes. The only problem with them is the decals are 10 years old and the adhesive is dried out. I tried putting one set on out of the package, and it would not stay on. I solved this by getting a sheet of 2-sided 3M adhesive. It's available at most decal shops, and cheap too. $12 for 6sq ft. I was expecting a 2 sided tape, but it is actually just an adhesive goo between two layers of wax paper. Pull off one side of the wax paper, apply the decal to the sticky side, then peel off. It deposits another layer of adhesive onto the back of the decal. Work like a charm.

I've seen on ebay there is a guy selling 1988 replica graphics. I've been tempted to get a set, and a spare seat with a  blue seat cover to give it a neat early look.

It's hard to beat the look of the various years of factory graphics. It seems all the ones on ebay now have hideous skulls and such. Hopefully you can find a set of tasteful, or stock graphics.
