I drag race cars, but I run practically everything I own down the 1/4 mile just to see what it will do. I just got my kx 500 and I will be taking it to the track sometime this summer. My kx310 ran 79 mph in the 1/4 and 72 mph in the 1/8 with a 120 90/19 knobby and 14/50 gearing. I never took my old cr 500 but I guess it would have run in the very high 80's or low 90's judging from the way it would pull on my 310. A kx500 with it's 14/47 gearing should run even faster.

Next time I go I'll probably put a street tire on because you get zippy traction with a knobby if you try to launch hard, so I ended up launching really soft because I think sliiping the clucth at full throttle on pavement is too hard on them just to find out what it'll run.
We also took a banshee with pipes, air filter, .020 over it ran 67mph, I also saw a ex 400 that ran 48 in the 1/8 but he lifted before the 1/4.
Greenmonster what was the distance when you were clocked at 82mph, and was it on dirt or pavement? Do you have very aggressive gearing? I haven't had the chance to open mine up yet because of all the snow but I really hope that it is able to run atleast 90mph.
If it was in dirt that's cool I grew up doing 180 and 300ft dirt drags before developers and population put an end to the track. There is nothing like some of the "machines" that people will bring out to a dirt drag or hill climb, I have lots of pictures and trophies from those days.
