RM500 Pistons
« on: April 08, 2010, 03:50:08 AM »
I have a couple of cliants with nice RM500's (iknow they are not green, but still a cool bike!) I was looking for  Pistons when I notice they all have been discontinued!

I am tring to find enough people that would like a piston for a 1983 to 1984 RM500 They will be a 1.00 over and sell for about $265 each for the kit (rings, wrist pin, clips...)

If you or anyone you know would be interested please email me sgates@stexmotorsports.com

I have always liked these bikes and would hate to see them die off.

Admin:  I don't typically allow double post of the same issue.  kx666 is making a valiant effort to keep his client's RM500's on the road or I should say trail.  If anyone can help it would be appreciated very much.  I suggested he double post for the maximum amount of exposure.  We hope all members will see his plight and do what they can to help.  I have a  1976 Kawasaki  KT250, very hard to find parts.  They only made it for 2 years, so I know what he's going through.

That statement is the same reason I devote so much of my time, energy and about a grand per year for kxriders.
I feel the same way about the KX500.

Danger, your effort and time you put into making this such a great site is very much appreciated.  Taking that further I don't want to see the 2 stroke die off!  Danger, maybe in all your "spare time" you can keep the 2 stroke from becoming extinct.......   B.O.
If some is good, and more is better, then too much is JUST RIGHT!  B.O.

As it stands right now KTM is the leader in keeping the 2 stroke alive, Yamaha,  Husqvarna,  Maico,  jfabmotorsports and Service Honda.

Husqvarna has a 125, 250 and 300 2 stroke also. I may be on one next season since there is nothing out there that excites me at this moment. Wont sell my green bikes though! 250 AF is out of my price range but would definately get one if it was in line with the main stream bikes. Good luck with the RM500 pistons, Im having the same issue with my PE400 resto project. I have read that a modified KX500 piston will work in my PE, maybe possible in the RM?
A couple of 03 and 04 KXs, a few YZs, 3 PE 400s, a DR and a TS.

Also, don't forget TM Racing and Gasgas are still making new 2 strokes too. There are getting to be a lot of TM Racing motorcycles in my neck of the woods.

I have spocken to a guy last year who had wisco pistons for the RM 500 in different sizes he was advertising on eBay. I do not want to stop you making parts or organising but if this helps let me know I am sure I have his information somewhere as I also have a Rm 500 and I also know how hard it is to get parts try getting a Conrod Kit  :? Anyway I am nearly there.
