My latest bike... 2004 Gasgas EC400fse
« on: April 04, 2010, 04:25:57 PM »
Don't worry, I am not giving up on the KX500, but it has a new bike to share truck space with. 2004 Gasgas EC400fse... electric start, four stroke, efi. Ohlins suspension front and rear. For people that are unaware of Gasgas, they primarily are known for their trials bikes. Made in Spain.

Hey SnoopyJon,
I have made it known before, I could have fun on an old fashion kick scooter.
Don't worry Dangerous Dean, if somethin' goes amiss Good Old Snoop has the technology to fix it!  :-D
There are a slew of bikes I would love to put in the garage.   However my ability to make the wrong descisions on education, finances and marriage have gotten in the way along with a skeletal structure that is failing faster than you can take your hat off!  :-o
Good on you Johnny Boy, keep up on the reports  from the great white north.
Just stay off the fields, the temptaion to open something like that up on a cultivated section was more than I could take when I was alot younger!

I've heard the quality has gone down hill recently. They're trying to be closer in price to the mainstream bikes, and have been cutting corners. According to several of my trials riding buddies that have Gasgas txt's, this bike has an ok reputation. And for the price I paid, I am willing to take a risk on it.

Tuck, I would have taken a good rip on it this weekend, if only it had a decent battery. The EFI requires that the battery be good enough to run the electric fuel pump. I was hoping I could just boost it, and once running the stator would keep it running, but it requires a good battery. I was able to get it going and take it for a quick 5 minute ride, but that was all the old battery could muster before giving up the ghost. I will be buying a new one today. I would have loved to take the KX out this weekend too, but I found out Friday that it has been accepted to go in a local indoor car show, so I don't want to get it dirty. It's still clean from it's ground up rebuild, and there is just no way to get it that clean again if I ride it without a teardown again. So... I was stuck riding my old ATC350X three wheeler.

One is never "stuck" riding a 350x.  They will pry that bike from my cold dead fingers..    You will love the gas gas if it's anything like my 2005 txtpro 300 trials bike.

It is really too bad if the quality had droped.  In 2002 the cycle shop I worked for started to carry them, I worked there till 2004 and the ones I saw looked like awsome quality.   There are not many of them, I have yet to see the new ones but it would be a shame if they droped the quality...

Love the 3 wheeler, Trying to talk my neighbor into selling me his 250r.... i dont think it will happen

I didn't mean to disrespect my three wheeler. As a matter of fact, I am wearing a Honda ATC belt buckle right now! Viva la trike! I have a Kawisaki Tecate-3 as well, but it is pretty rough. I'd love to get a Yamaha Tri-Z and a ATC250R to complete the trike collection.

 Hey Snoop,
That's pretty cool getting your bike in a car show. Testament to a job well done. 8-)
I can't hardly believe you guys are riding up there already.  We got about 24'' of snow from Good Friday night to Easter Sunday night.
Three Wheelers... I'm thinkin' back in '81 -'82 ish   I took my cousins 250x around the yard ONCE... Ran over my foot twice and directly toward the fence.
I didn' hurt his Brand new bike but my ego was scarred for life...
No three wheelers for this DoughBoy...
You guys can have my share! I harbor no ill feeling toward the contraptions...I just don't have the co-ordination to enjoy them. Now That my friends is a sad state of affairs...

It's been very nice weather around here. It was about 70 this weekend. Around these parts, I really hope Al Gore is right, and we do have a little climate change going on. And I would like to believe that all my 2-stroke motorcycles and hotrodded V8s are contributing. I've really been doing my part to warm this place up. I actually think he is the one full of hot air, but it would make Canada a nicer place to live if he is right.

The trick to riding a three wheeler is NEVER taking your feet off the pegs. And they take a lot of steering input, particularly on hillsides. It takes some getting used to because it feels so much like a bike otherwise (especially my 350x with clutch, 6 speed, and twist throttle), but pull the foot off the peg and that rear tire will pull your pants down. A friend bought a Yamaha Tri-Z, and went out for a ride in sweat pants. About 5 minutes later, he comes walking back in his underwear with his pants wrapped around the axle. :-D

I'll try to find the time to post up some video of my three wheeler riding. I took about a hour worth of video on the Gopro last weekend, so it will take some time to edit it down to a manageable length to put on youtube.

Your'e right on about Gore and the Hot air
Danger doesn't like politics/religion so I try not to  disrespect his wishes.
Obama and his progressive minions have been resolved to my Maker... "Revenge Is Mine sayeth the Lord"
Ok. Now I guess I deserve a Time out. broke both rules in one fell swoop.

Did you make your Dad ride that big red Jobber with No Suspension!?   OOhh.. I'd be thinking the stalls needed cleaning...
That looks like the bike is in pretty good shape for being a few years old..

Yes, that is my dad on the 1983 200 Big Red. He bought it new. With those balloon tires, and proper fenders, it is actually a lot better for riding in these conditions. He never got stuck, and stayed clean. The 350X fenders are completely useless, and a few times I fell through the snowbanks and got stuck.
