Will a rear wheel from a 2001 kx250 fit a 2003 kx500?  Also what about a 97 kx250 wheel, will it fit?

To go along with the rear wheel question, How about a thread on what parts will fit the KX 500 off other years and models. This is especially important to those of us who lack both factory and spousal support. I think I just made up a new word.

The '97 will fit. I'm pretty sure that 2000 is the last year of inter-changeability due to axles...I think.

Excellent idea...

I have a 250 18" rim that I purchased on ebay.  Haven't tried it yet but it looks the same.  My 5oo is a 94 and I believe this rim is a 92 or 93.

How did the axle change???

Yes the front axle did change.  I bought a set of forks for a 92-93 (blue anodized) and they didn't fit.  I wanted a simple fix and got involved in a mess.  I wound up switching lowers out of the old shocks into the new ones.  It worked but was a lot tougher.

Team Kawasaki had some shims/collars they had made to run the old wheels on the new forks at one time, untill they got rid of there old spares.
